Forgive me Father, for I have sinned
I just had a conversation with one of my friends, who was having trouble in her friendship with her other friend..lets call my friend PW and her friend GF.
Well, through the course of their friendship, GF has a tendency to put PW down, making PW feel like she's the most incorrigible, unspiritual, insipid, useless and hopeless person on the face of this Earth. And PW hated the way GF made her feel.
PW tried hard to understand GF, tried hard to accomodate GF..but every single time GF puts her down again, PW felt her identity as a friend and her self-worth as a Christian being beaten down bit by bit..PW was terribley bruised by GF, yet she still hung on..
Until one day, GF finally broke PW's limit, GF finally crossed the line..and PW was consumed by anger, and one so strong that PW herself was afraid of it..PW hated GF, but she knew it was wrong to hate a fellow child of God..but she didnt know what to do..and together while we prayed, we came to these two passages:
1) An eye for an eye - Matthew 5:38-42
2) Love for enemies - Matthew 5:43-48
God is amazing..a thousand advices and a million words from friends may lift one's spirit up momentararily, but a precious word from God can heal the spirit forever..and when we needed God the most, he directed us to the correct passage.
Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends his rain on the righteous and the unrighteous...Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
- Matthew 5:44, 48
And we both agreed, we shall Pray Like Never Before for GF..and hopefully, prayerfully, one day, GF will grow up to be strong, biblical, God-loving and God-fearing child of God..and may God break all strongholds, all pride, all our defenses and strip us pure and naked so we can receive the fullness of his blessings.
Because God hears and answers prayers.
