and yes this is the show that i watched today!! never tot that i would actually catch it but, this was done on orders of my mother, who asked me to bring my grandmother to watch it at LOT 1! gosh, lot 1, yucks..
anyways, i have never seen so many OLD PPL in a cinema before!! the whole theatre smelled of old people..and it was filled to the 2nd row! plus, those grannys and grandpas were really noisy, and handphones with orbiang tunes was heard somewhat occasionally thruout the whole show..maybe its their culture to be noisy while watching shows..after all, during their times, they do really only haf getais to watch..and getais are outdoors so it was preety noisy..felt a little intimidated by having some many senior citizens ard me..like, wat am i doing there?
oh well, but im not one to shy away from a mission if it were ever entrusted upon me! so i took it up and accomplished it way till the end! the show was, honestly speaking, not that bad..BUT quite draggy..at the last few parts i was like..issit ending soon? issit ending soon? gosh, how long more? plus the three ah-ma sitting behind mi kept making their oh-not-really-soft comments thruout the show..there were a few parts that were quite touching..other than that, it was a glamourous display of sequined costumes, feathery headdresses, purple tights and heavy glittery make-up..oh add in a bulldozer, a lion dance troop, and a forklift and u get 881! it was not once thruout the whole show where the notion of whether the 2 leads were lesbians crossed my minds..their embracing really reminded mi of the hitachin twins in ouran high school host club..yikes!
the dialogue was preety funny too..to hear them spewing out hokkien phrases made the whole show much more intimate with the old ppl i tink..tho it was a much needed hokkien lesson for me..i did realize that i managed to understand a huge portion of the hokkien part without referring to the sub-titles! kudos to that!! i tink my grandmother loved the songs, the stage, and the show..i asked her whether they sang those songs during her time and they actually did!! not bad for effort i muz say..with real life getai singers acting out as well..however, may and choy were really, painful to watch..they shld never act in chinese shows, ever..
ahhh this post really reminds me of an assignment in class where i haf to write a movie review for any movie i liked..i always tot that i didnt haf much flare of writing, hence the job of a reporter or journalist was placed the lowest in my choices for an appropraite job..but, i do rather love writing after all..guess, maybe i shld look for a job in that area..
